Get Frocked: Vintage-Inspired Swimwear
I have always loved 40’s, 50’s and 60’s swimsuits. They cover more, but have such a classic appeal. I don’t know if it is the curves they accentuate, or the beautiful icons who wore them (think Marilyn Monroe, Annette Funicello, or a young Ingrid Bergman), but retro swimsuits are getting fresh, modern updates in a variety of styles and shapes this summer. Just check out some of the new swimwear in Victoria’s Secret or Urban Outfitters and you’ll see what I mean.
Even better… retro swimsuits are now available in SecondLife™. I found three lovely pieces on a recent shopping excursion that I’d like to share with you.
The first is a checkered beauty called Molly Red from Firanelli Swimwear.

This alluring, older-style swimsuit is made of red and white gingham, with a row of red buttons decorating the center front seam.

The second, Gingham Rompers Red from 1-800-Betties, is an adorable two piece retro 40’s suit with blue denim shorts trimmed with red ric rac and a red and white gingham belt. The top is a combination of red and white gingham and blue denim.

The third suit, Yvette Red, is a polka-dotted one piece from Firanelli Swimwear. You can never have enough polka-dots! The shape of this red swimsuit with white polka dots is enhanced by matching white trim that runs around the bustline and down the princess seams on the front.

Retro swimsuits are fun to wear and attractive no matter what your size or shape. Add them to your SecondLife™ wardrobe and you’ll be all set for a variety of beach adventures this summer!
Molly Red and Yvette Red are available at Firanelli Swimwear.
Gingham Rompers is available at 1-800-Betties.
